I agree whole heartedly with much of what you are saying. I particularly like this question:


"Does Free/Open Source software solve the problems associated with user ignorance?"

and the answer:

"No. ... If Free Software such as Linux is going to solve these problems then WE the technical industry must start educating users, thinking for users, and learning from mistakes of others."

In other words, the software isn't the answer, but rather the people are. As for Educating users, that's a lot of work with very little money. And its a non-technical solution, something we tend to not be very adept at.
