For those of you who don't read SlashDot or missed it:
"BitTorrent Accounts for 35% of Traffic"
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/04/1749257
IMHO, this is good news. It means that the way to distribute software or other digital media in the future is not via traditional vendors (e.g. MS bundling packages with Windows and then pre-installing it on hardware), but rather via P2P networks.
This is significant, because if you look at most large corporations, their strength is not in the products they produce, but rather in the way they are able to control the distribution chain. That is, how they get their products from manufacturer to consumer (e.g MS, WalMart, the music industry, the film industry, etc.) P2P bypasses that hierarchical system. And BT has the added advantage that because it is OpenSource anyone can write their own BT client or setup their own tracker.
