I have been trying to configure winmodems to no avail. Linux in
general just does not like winmodems. There are a few. But given the
computer stores near by there aren't any available.

Haven't checked EPC yet.

So I found a couple of ISA boards. One that had to have IRQ 3. The
jumper settings were already on it. I checked the BIOS settings and
adjusted them accordingly.

When I checked the /etc/fstab and the /etc/sysconfig/hwconf files the
modem was not there.
Neither was the ISA Sound Blaster.

So it seems that FCII and Mepis are not checking, or the kernel is not
including ISA slots.

Linux recognizes that I have a winmodem if I use the PCI slots.

Does anyone know if I have not thought of something or if what I am
seeing a true reality.
And I will just have to buy an external modem or buy one that is PCI
and works with Linux.

JT, this is ASUS AMD 450 that you gave me.
