Knoppix hack #1 has a section on booting from a floppy. Creating the floppies only works for the 2.4 kernel and not with the 2.6 kernel. Apparently, floppies are too small to hold the 2.6 kernel.
I've submitted an errata to O'Reilly, but I haven't seen it posted, yet.
