Debian and debconf can do the same thing. you can install dpkg-doc (i think) and look for automated and unattended installs. I have never done it on either platform so cannot provide a comparison

One of the founders of the debian project runs a consulting company called Progeny. The company ported anaconda to work with debs but THE DEBIan PROJECT will probably NEVER adopt it just like the last gui installer progeny wrote.
