Debian and debconf can do the same thing.  you can install dpkg-doc (i
think) and look for automated and unattended installs.  I have never
done it on either platform so cannot provide a comparison

One of the founders of the debian project runs a consulting company
called Progeny.  The company ported anaconda to work with debs but THE
DEBIan PROJECT will probably NEVER adopt it just like the last gui
installer progeny wrote.

to be fair, anaconda for debian was horribly slow last I tried it.
still in beta.
