I know I was on pins and needles waiting to see what you would go with. :)

I have Charter, too, and have been well pleased, though billing and customer
service was a disaster when I first had it installed. Totally screwed up.
The problems eventually got worked out and Charter gave me a very nice
credit for my trouble.

Alright, if anyone's curious, I went with Charter.

I've been doing DSL for over 5 years (before that, ISDN; before that,
dialup, of course), and I thought it'd be nice to try out Charter. I know
lots of folks have 'em & like it.

The price is good: $30/mo, as long I put the billing on a credit card for
automatic payment. OK by me. I also made it clear that I use DirecTV and
will not be changing. Also no problem: when they do the free install,
they're just gonna have to run another coax cable into the house. With the
free install, I also get a free modem. Cool.

The best part: I called today, & they're installing it on SATURDAY. Wow.
Beat that, DSL!

As for ValueNet, ptui! Their customer service was laughable, and it's pretty
low to leave 100s of folks in the lurch like this. Still, I gotta say that I
really never had any problems using their DSL service. Looks like they had
problems figuring out how to bill folks, though. ;)

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Scott
