Thought I'd pass on to you a gem I learned from an Amateur Radio Operator
friend. Was ready to commit a legacy laptop(Digital Hi Note, P233mmx) to
spare parts as the keyboard took > 5 seconds to write a digit, and couldn't
find what was wrong. He said to remove the dead battery, and run it on the
charger alone. I had a problem with this diagnosis, as I had been running a
Toshiba laptop for a year with a dead battery on the Charger, with the dead
battery in the laptop. My wife's Compaq laptop has been running two years
with a dead battery in the case. I removed the Digital battery which had
been on the charger, and it read 0V, nada. Neither the charger nor the
battery were greater than warm, indicating minimum activity. However,
starting the legacy without the battery found it typed perfectly, and was
lighter to carry. I had heard there were other Digitals out there with the
same symptoms. Good Luck! Tony
