Eclipse requires version 1.3 or 1.4 of a Java 2 Standard Edition
JRE. The Eclipse SDK does *not* ship with a JRE.
Eclipse 3.1 apparently can run j2se 5.0. Haven't tried it, yet.
BTW, my notes for installing Eclipse:
1 - download Eclipse
2 - unzip into your home directory
3 - create a shortcut to eclipse.exe and add the -vm option to
point your JVM (e.g. -vm c:\jdk1.4.2\jre\bin\javaw)
4 - start Eclipse by double-clicking on the shortcut
5 - point Eclipse to your "projects" folder
Will wiki in a minute.
