sysctl is a very useful command to set kernel parameter's while the
system is running. The man pages explain how to use the command
sysctl and how to configure the /etc/sysctl config file:

   http://linux.about.com/library/cmd/blcmdl8_sysctl.htm
   http://linux.about.com/library/cmd/blcmdl5_sysctl.conf.htm

How does one find a description of the available parameters, their
possible values, and what the values mean?
