lame --preset insane *wav
this basically creates the mp3 at 320, which is, uh, insane, but it's the
highest quality level.
& here's a bonus: convert wav to flac.
shntool conv -o flac *.wav
you'll need to do this 1st:
sudo apt-get install shntool
