Any chance you can put p bigger pictures? These are about 1/2" square when
displayed, and it's hard to tell what they actually depict.

I **DO** seem to remember seeing audio plugs like this on televisions when
I was fixing them in high school, however.

If these ARE inputs, .. you should be able to get two RCA patch cords with
your 'Y' adapter at Radio Shack (I might have some in the junk bin if you
would prefer to play with them).

Actually, it doesn't make any difference.

Here's a test:

Take two paper clips, unfold them once, then squeeze the small end enough
to fit into each slot on the plug. Straighten the other side out, and
leave them about 1/4" apart.

Turn on the stereo, leave the volume down pretty low, and then select the
inputs you think belong to these plugs.

Take a 3rd paper clip and quickly rub it across the ends of the other two
- you should hear a 'snap crackle pop' from the speakers (remember, leave
the volume down).

If this works, these probably ARE inputs you can use! If so, all you
need to do is pick up a set of panel-mount RCA jacks at Radio Shack and
bring the unit by the shop here - I would be happy to install them in
parallel with your 'old-style' inputs (or in place of should you wish).

You MAY be able to find plugs like those, but you would then have to
install them on cables instead of RCA plugs. The better long term solution
would be to install RCA jacks on the back panel.
