hey thanks for the awesome responses re: GIMP. my experiences: I played around for a bit, then jumped in with both feet and started a project. In some ways, it's laid out so nice and cleanly, it makes more sense and is better feeling than Photoshop. But at a couple points here and there, it was frustrating - such as trying to bold some text mid-sentence - I got the message that with the small things, GIMP's just not quite there yet.
