Now that I think about it...I called them about another problem and  
the tech support person couldn't help me so they referred my case to  
a "higher-up" support person.  I got a call from SWbell who new what  
was going on.  I told him that my outgoing mail wasn't working unless  
I used VPN.  He told me that port25 was closed to outgoing mail but  
one can request to open it and  then within a few seconds over the  
phone he opened the port for me.
