I would have thought this an April Fool's joke, but the date is three days later and it's from Forbes:

[Microsoft] will now provide technical support for the open- source software running on Virtual Server, and would make Virtual Server 2005 R2 available free." That hits on so many levels. For example, running Linux in VS2005 on Windows on an Intel-Mac. But for some reason I'm thinking "Embrace, extend, extinguish".
