I haven't seen the Ubuntu Device Manager.  I'll have to give that a  
try.  Does it produce output similar to what System Profiler puts  
out?  System Profiler's output is very well organized, easy to read,  
and complete with hardware, firmware, and software.  Below is a mini- 
report using "File > Save As" and choosing text, although I could  
also choose XML or PDF.  The Full report is quite extensive, over 120  
pages.
