I have experienced the same behavior with Firefox and I.E 6 on XP. 
Although I.E v6 to a lesser extent.

We are using ESX v 2.5.2 +.

My experience indicates a MUI problem, but I've not nailed down cold hard
evidence.

The MUI is supposed to be much improved in 3.*, and we don't use the MUI
much, so we avoid it and wait.

That probably isn't much help....
