Hey all,

just got a nice Logitech wireless keyboard/laser mouse combo (MX 3200
and MX600 respectively). With Ubuntu 7.10, it was just "plug and play"
-- is worth pointing out, though, that in the past, to get Sun's Virtual
Box playing nicely with USB devices, I
tweaked /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh (uncommenting four lines to add USB
support) and added a line to /etc/fstab. So not sure if it would work
as perfectly with a "vanilla" Gutsy install.

On to my question ... keyboard and mouse are nice, but none of their
custom buttons work (no zoom, launching music player, controlling
volume, etc.), which is sensible, Ubuntu is configured for a generic
setup.

I found this company: http://www.hidpoint.com/home.html

Their welcome page says "HIDPoint can be considered as a Linux version
of Logitech’s or Microsoft’s Keyboard and Mouse configuration software.
It runs on many Linux distributions such as RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, Mandriva
and Fedora. HIDPoint has been designed to give users using USB Mice and
Keyboards, the same experience they get when using these devices on
Microsoft Windows."

One library and a device driver are covered under GPL; everything else
is proprietary.

Has anyone else used their software? Opinions, comments, feedback?

Thanks,

Theresa
