Exactly!

It depends on what the data is and what your sharing needs are.  If it's
completely 100% public data, storing online makes sense.  Anything less
and it stays on my home storage, is my motto.

Oh, and just check out the ole google hacks, for a hair-raising
education ... passwords, names, credit card details, and much, much,
more, is all out there, and a lot more of it accessible than you would
nightmare (can't say "dream") to think of.
