I'm really loving VMs. Two interesting notes: 1) The recent kernel upgrade didn't bother either VMware nor VirtualBox. In the past whenever there was a kernel upgrade you had to recompile stuff. Not so this time. Of course, it's quite possible that the upgrade wasn't significant enough to trigger a recompile.
2) I was able to install a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 8.10 server on a 32-bit Ubuntu 8.04 system running VMware. While it may not be useful to actually use a 64-bit system on a 32-bit host, it is useful for testing, development, and eventual migration from a 32-bit host to a 64-bit host or even a 64-bit physical machine. I haven't tried yet if VirtualBox can do the same.
