That's the trouble with unix-like machines. They tend to get turned on and kept on. So the Mac isn't going to be rebooted any time soon. And to top it off, I was able to resolve the networking issue so that the next time it boots, it can use its own MAC address.
As for a script, it would just be that one line "ifconfig en0 ... ". So it's not so much what to write as it is where to put it. My hunch would be to put it in with launchd[1.2], but I know nothing about launchd, other than it is similar to Ubuntu's upstart[3].
