"And to conclude, I imagine that everything I say is true, no more and
no less, and I depict her in my imagination as I wish her to be in
beauty and in distinction, and Helen cannot approach her, Lucretia
cannot metch her, nor can any other of the other famous women of past
ages, Greek, barbarian, or Latin. Let each man say what he chooses."

The individual will provide computer programming support to an ongoing
research project on the genetics of addiction, particularly nicotine
dependence. A major component of the project is the development and
maintenance of a large-scale biological relational database derived

HapMap. Responsibilities for this aspect of the project will include
assisting in the design of relational databases to maximize
efficiency, integrity and scalability, downloading and parsing data
from external databases and up loading these data into a local MySQL
or Oracle database, writing scripts in Perl or some other interface
language such as Java to implement various algorithms on the database,
and possibly developing and maintaining web-based tools that implement
these algorithms. The individual will also be required to perform
administrative tasks for the maintenance of database management
software in
Linux computer systems, including issues related to security, backup,
networking and database server maintenance. The individual must be
able to work with scientific teams and occasionally give
presentations.
This position offers an opportunity to assist in the development of
