Hello all, Today marks the first time I have been able to connect to wifi on a plane. Results: fantastic. I can check e-mail, surf the web (tracking my flight -- someplace over Western Pennsylvania right now), even make phone calls via Google Voice.
Of course , I'm using my EeePC netbook with Ubuntu 10.04, but any wifi device should work. And it was only $5 for the whole flight. All that's missing now is longer battery life or power outlets. I'm betting all future mobile devices will be powered over USB (or similar) and that planes will provide those plugs in the arm rest. No more DC to AC to DC converters. Just thought I'd share.
