DIY satellite imagery <http://kottke.org/11/10/diy-satellite-imagery>
With a computer, some software, and a couple hundred dollars of hardware, you can pull down your own satellite images <http://alternet.us.com/?p=1398>from satellites managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) manages a few satellites in low earth orbit. There are three actively transmitting APT signals at the moment, NOAA15, 17, and 18. Each of these satellites passes overhead a few times a day. I've been interested in learning how to receive their signals for a while now, and I've finally succeeded! *Tags:* weather <http://kottke.org/tag/weather> Source: http://kottke.org/11/10/diy-satellite-imagery (via Mr. Reader <http://www.curioustimes.de/mrreader>) Sent from my iPad Contact info at http://granneman.tel -- Central West End Linux Users Group (via Google Groups) Main page: http://www.cwelug.org To post: [email protected] To subscribe: [email protected] To unsubscribe: [email protected] More options: http://groups.google.com/group/cwelug
