I heard a program on KWMU (Friday, I think) which discussed the
question of modern programmers being inspired by earlier work, in
particular Aiken & Hopper being inspired by Babbage & Lovelace's work
a century earlier.

Not sure if it was Science Friday or Fresh Air, but if it was Friday,
would probably be Science Friday.
