I see the issue - Class.getPackage() is allowed to return null (which happens in a lot of cases) and whoever wrote the code didn't realize that. We'll fix this up for you right away and report back... I'll do this tomorrow unless someone gets to it before I wake up again :-)

When the processing hits line 488 of JaxWsServiceConfiguration, it invokes getPackageName() on the proxy, which throws an NPE at line 505. I would imagine that it would be common to receive a proxy for the serviceBean if AOP is being used, for instance for declarative transactions.
