I just tested the web.xml with the Log4jConfigListener and
ContextLoaderListener , they are workable :)
you need to specify the listeners like this:

org.springframework.web.util.Log4jConfigListener

org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener
</listener-class>
</listener>
