I know IONA has done some internal testing between the two. Several fixes were put in place in CXF based on that testing. Some of the fixes are very recent. For example, I know: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CXF-1227 was also applicable to the Auqalogic testing, and thats only in 2.0.4.
I think they pretty much got everything working with what was on the 2.0.x branch in the middle of December sometime. Thus, 2.0.4 would definitely be recommended.
