I agree, with the cost of fast hard drives memory and possessors being cheap
it's not really worth going for a raid solution unless your pulling loads of
stuff from the server (and I mean loads)

I personally wouldn't do it on a cafe system, no need to.
The file system performance should be ok for you, if it is swapping a lot,
defrag and increase RAM.
Now if you run a file server with all your games ripped to the drives there,
and lots of clients, you may want to consider it, but that is far from a
typical setup.
