you should start offering lapdances instead....
:-)....
seriously...
tips for connecting laptops... :-)..
Use a DHCP server...
Use a 'shared' 10base-T hub, not a fancy switch or anything like that
use NAT rather than go through a proxy...
Create 'profiles' on the laptop....
do not support modems...real bad idea...yuk yuk yuk...
the fact of the matter is, that you have to distrust you users,
I would'nt be suprised if the laptop your were givin was just
plain knackard, and they users could'nt afford for someone
to have a look at it.... always make sure the laptop is
functioning..and get insurance if you are 'touching' other
people stuff.
Bye..

Subject: [cc] Laptops
A laptop toting customer has just come and gone from my cybercaf, and
boy am I embarrassed. I could neither get her laptop to access the
Internet via my LAN nor could I successfully configure her DUN to dial
in to my ISP. After 45 minutes of floundering I finally had to admit
defeat. (In the end I gave her free use of one of my machines as
consolation so she went away happy, but that's not the point.)
Obviously there's more to having a laptop friendly cybercaf than simply
having a spare Ethernet or phone jack to plug into. How do the rest of
you deal with laptops?
