Japanese police site hacked

TOKYO (AP) — Police on Tuesday were investigating how an image of a nude woman made
its way onto the Web site of Japan's top security organization. ''At this point,
nothing has been concluded, only that it was not caused by a virus'' said Tsuyoshi
Inoue, a spokesman at the National Police Agency.

An image of a nude woman appeared on the top page at the Web site of the National
Public Safety Commission, when a police agency staff member updated the page late
Friday, Inoue said. The Web site was temporarily suspended until early Saturday when
it was fixed, he said.

The commission supervises the police agency and the agency oversees the Web site.

Inoue held out the possibility of a user deliberately developing a device so that
anyone who accessed the commission's site would see the image of the nude woman.
Police were asking specialists to check if that was possible, he said.

Earlier this year, hackers broke into several Japanese government agency Web sites.
