I've recently (after 3 months effort) got the
information out of Stirling Council that their
Archivist has a full transcript of the Cullen Inquiry
Hearings -

Norman Stewart
Council Archivist
Burghmuir Industrial Estate
Stirling
FK7 7PY
(tel: 01786 450 745)

The Crown Office (tel: 0131 247 2714)in Edinburgh tell
me that the Scottish Library in George IV Bridge,
Edinburgh have another copy of the full transcript and
say maybe the British Library have a copy in London.
I'm checking out both these assertions.

I've also written to the Secretary of State at the
Scottish Office asking for the full Cullen Inquiry
Hearings transcript to be published by the Stationery
Office and put up on the web - no response yet.

It seems there were 26 days of hearings in Stirling
and the Inquiry ended on 10 July 1996. Newspaper
reports will lag by one day, remember, if you're
looking it up.

The transcripts were prepared from shorthand notes
taken by:
William Hodge and Pollock
Custom House
298 Clyde Street
Glasgow
G1 4NF
(tel: 0141 248 6211)
who tell me they were commissioned by someone in the
Justiciary Office of the Scottish Courts
Administration, but it's a bit vague who. This firm
tell me they've not got anything on floppy disk, but I
should imagine they must have sent floppies to the
people who commissioned the transcripts, so it should
be an easy job getting it on the web.

I'm very interested in the four things Lord Cullen was
allegedly sent back to remove from the draft copy of
his Report.

I'll keep Cybershooters posted on my progress.

Regards
Norman Bassett
