With regard to the recent vote on Clause 28, having been made even more
cynical by this and previous Government actions, as a pistol shooter I find
the comments made in defence of the -rights of the individual- in the upper
house absolutely astonishing where were all these proponents of the
freedoms of the individual when my sport was being destroyed so obviously
for nothing but political gain? At least homosexuals and heterosexuals are
now finding an equality whereby they can be increasingly shot in equal
measure, married or not, by an increasing use of illegal firearms blissfully
unaffected by a pointless piece of electioneering...

I was thinking exactly the same thing last night. Here are all these
people saying that Section 28 is institutional discrimination, and
the arguments in favour of it are scaremongering - yet they were the
same people scaremongering about handguns, and they passed a law
which doesn't just discriminate against handgun users, it totally outlaws
the activity. Apparently homosexuality is okay provided it's not
mentioned in school though.

Actually I take some of that back, some of the people supporting
Section 28 _were_ the same dolts (mostly Conservatives) who supported
the handgun ban.

Steve.
