Massad Ayood has changed his tune on the best gun for
home defence over the last 20 years, he used to propose
that a shotgun with the first shot of very fine pellets
to cause maximum mess with minimal damage followed by a
second shot of buckshot in case the perpetrator did not
get the message. However, he also said that any firearm
was worth having if you practised with it, ie a well
placed hit with a .22 was better than a miss with a .44
mag.

The military has to be called out by the Lord Lieutenant
of the County before they can be involved in putting down
riots in Trumptonshire. This was last done in 1926 in
Wales because the local police refused to obey their
superiors and beat up the striking miners and dockers.
The navy were sent in but the ships crew also refused to
do as they were ordered so the Captain confined them to
their quarters and he got charged with mutiny and sacked.
He was the veteran rights campaigner Ludovic Kennedy's
father and was later killed in action attacking the
Japanese fleet in the Rawalpindi, an armed merchantman.

By some bizarre coincidence Mas has an article in the
current copy of American Handgunner about the Illinois
State Police. ISP were the first police agency in
the US to mandate semi-automatic pistols back in
the mid-sixties. They started off with 9mm FMJ, went
to 100gr JSP, and then to the Winchester +P+ 115gr
JHP and have recently adopted .40 calibre.

As ISP have more police involved shootings every year
than all the police forces in Great Britain put
together, I think there is an important lesson to
learn here, i.e. JHPs are the best choice!!!

Steve.
