DOORMEN SHOT DURING NIGHTCLUB FIGHT

Police believe two doormen injured in a double shooting at
a nightclub were attacked as they tried to break up a fight.

The men, both in their 20s, were shot after a fight broke
out in one of three nightclubs in the Epping Forest Country
Club complex in Abridge Road, Chigwell, Essex.

Doormen threw out around 30 revellers involved, but trouble
continued outside the club where two of the doormen were
shot, Essex police said.

One of the injured men is undergoing emergency surgery.

Detectives sealed off the area and all the clubbers still
inside were searched and questioned.

An Essex police spokeswoman said: "The men's condition is
serious, but we don't know exactly how bad. One is undergoing
emergency surgery.

"Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, but
as they are shooting wounds, it is difficult to know their
extent at this stage.

"There were about 7,000 people in the club last night and
many had left by the time police arrived.

"We would urge anyone who was there at the time of the
shootings to come forward."
