A man allegedly snatched a gun from an armed police officer
based with a unit which guards the Royal Family and threatened
officers with it, it was reported today.

The weapon was seized from an officer's holster and pointed
at one of his colleagues in the alleged incident which took
place on August 25 in Maida Vale, west London, the Sun said.

Both officers were members of the Diplomatic Protection
Department.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Diplomatic
Protection Officers receive a high level of training for a
wide range of situations.

"It would not be appropriate to comment until the specific
circumstances of this incident have been reviewed."

Unemployed Darren Jemmott, 24, of Carlton Vale, Kilburn,
west London, has appeared at West London Magistrates Court
charged with two counts of assault, threatening officers
with a firearm and other firearms offences.
