I did not think quota places could be transferred, I thought
the shooter themselves had to win the quota by attendance
and attaining qualifying scores in nominated events.
Or am I misunderstanding the rules?
The Wild Card system always confused me totally!
I think the disbandment of the pistol squads was a foolish
move by the GBTSF especially as they knew the Commonwealth
Games was coming to the UK and had the pistol disciplines
as part of the original bid.
I do know that pressure was applied regionally to remove the
cartridge pistol disciplines from Sports Council/governemnt
funding after the 1997 ban. If any of the regional squads
wanted to function the money had to be found separately
from the grant, an almost impossible situation for most
regional squads.
