Here is a copy of the letter I had published in the Daily
Mail. I was fed up with articles in the paper about people
being shot and nobody seemed to care. Even where I live we
get the odd person shot now and then, but where are all the
protesters, the car stickers, the "ban the gun" mob, all
gone as there is nobody left to blame but themselves.

NEWS of the 'Rolex raiders' is appalling. Didn't Tony Blair
say that, in the wake of Dunbiane and Hungerford, it was
clear that only the strictest firearms laws could provide
maximum safety?
Yet never a day goes by with�out someone, somewhere in
Britain, being shot.
It proves the British public were conned into believing
that, if we disarmed the shooting element of society
(honest men and women who used firearms only for sport),
we would all be safe. Well, tell that to businessman Joe
Martorana and his family, who were brutally gunned down
in the driveway of their home (Mail).
How gullible can the public be? There is a growing gun
culture in Britain, and it is thanks to those who cried
out 'Ban the handgun', and Government stupidity, that
there is a thriving black market in weapons.
A parliamentary inquiry into the growing number of
black-market firearms has concluded that there are more
than three million illegally-held guns in circulation and
that criminals are more willing than ever to use them.
How many people have been shot since Dunblane, amid how
many more will be shot before the public and politicians
see that banning honest, law-abiding members of the public
from having handguns was a total farce?

Good letter. I've thought for awhile now that during the
2002 Games it might be interesting to put an ad in the
Manchester papers quoting the Govt. press release about
all handguns being removed from the streets of Britain
and then quoting how many people have been murdered with
them since then!
