Mr. Bush opposes licensing and registration, a three-day waiting
period on purchases, and limiting purchases to one gun a month. On
the campaign trail and in his literature, he emphasizes tougher
enforcement of existing laws, although he does say he will not
push for a nationwide version of Texas's concealed weapons law. He
says he would accept some type of background check at gun shows,
and that he would sign a mandatory trigger lock requirement if
Congress put such a measure on his desk.
But relying on Congress to take the lead means nothing will be
done. Presidential leadership and passion will be crucial if there
is any hope of enacting new forms of gun control.

This is pure propaganda, Al Gore was very pro-gun until he
teamed up with Clinton, the difference between Gore and
Bush on the gun issue is that Gore is a blatant hypocrite.

But, you know what?
If Gore had taken the anti-gunners by the horns, and
told them to shut the hell up, he would have the lead.
In much the same way that extremist religious right
had taken over the Republican Party back in the 80's, the extremist
left anti-gunners have taken over the Democratic Party in the 90's.
Both sides scare the bejesus out the average Jane and Joe,
and since Bush 'looks' reasonable, he will win this election.
Let's compare notes in November: I say Bush gets the
majority and the electoral college vote.

I dunno, Bush has squandered his lead by making a lot of
silly mistakes, and his tactic of trying to focus on Gore's
reputation doesn't seem to be working. Also his refusal of
two of the debates was stupid, made him look scared of Gore.
