I've got a query which I hope someone will be able to
help me with. I shoot an SAM180 semi-auto .22 rifle and
I've just taken delivery of a new set of sights for it. I
bought it second-hand, minus the original sights, and I've
been running it with a Russian red dot sight, but I decided
to get some iron sights from the manufacturer. Both the
front and rear sights fit OK, but the front sight drifts
off centre if I knock it. I need some kind of adhesive to
fix it to the barrel. The sight itself is some kind of
tough plastic, so I need something that will bond plastic
to metal, take the vibration from shooting and cope with
heat buildup - and after firing a full mag (177 rounds)
the barrel does get hot! Can anyone recommend a suitable
brand of adhesive? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid
question, but I'm no DIY expert, and I don't want to make
a hash of things by using something unsuitable.
BTW, I sent off the order for the new sights (along with
a couple of items for repair) to the company in America
(E & L Manufacturing) about four weeks ago. At the same
time I sent off my FAC to the local plod for a variation.
I got my parcel back from America this morning, but still
haven't heard back from the police (the cop shop's only a
couple of miles from where I live). It's a sign of the
times that I don't find that surprising.

LocTite make an adhesive for everything, they come in
many different colours for many different uses, I have no
clue which is the best for this but I suggest you go to
a DIY shop and read the labels and find the best one.
