        Steve, & Dave,

        Ever consider shaming them?
Write a good, well documented letter, and without managing
to speak down to -- or at -- them, evince the cultured and learned person.
Present your facts, and then offer your services as a consultant
merely as someone who can unequivocally, responsibly, and manifestly
present knowledge of firearms in terms that the common man and woman
can grasp.
The great object is to present the factual without emotion, or
embellishment. When they perceive of you as the knowledge base, they
also see others like you as learned: the learned garner more respect -- one
small step for shooters . . .

I tried doing that with the local rag back in 1996 before Dunblane
when they kept going on about the police being armed with SMGs
that could fire 1,000 rounds in a minute, etc., and basically
they told me to get stuffed. Too much pride or too much stupidity,
probably both. Letters to the Press Complaints Commission seem
to get their attention for about five minutes.

Steve.
