From: "Tom Charnock", [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Times Saturday October 7th 2000 "Spain is top of fatal attractions for Britons" Well here is something that we should write to our MPs about, start "concern groups" and above all else, GET IT BANNED What ?? Holidays of course According to the Times reporter, __Spain__ is _THE_ killer of Brits abroad, LAST year, "13 died falling from hotel balconies, 52 killed in car crashes, 20 drowned, 3 from air crashes and 1 in the mountains. This was for the 12 million holidays taken in Spain which is 2nd most popular place (France 1st 14,7 million visits)" "Other trip volumes Italy 4,1 million, USA 3,6 million. In total 53,6 million overseas trips by Brits last year" (almost one each!!) "Total Brit deaths abroad last year, 2,400 people, of which _35_ were murdered". "Spain top with 854 deaths, including 752 natural causes, 10 suicides, 3 murders". "USA came second with 97 deaths, including 21 accidents and drownings, and 4 murders". "France, third with 81 deaths, including 22 accidents and drownings". "In the middle of the year, there were 2,780 Brits in overseas prisons, USA 586, Spain 302, France 260, Germany 141, Austrailia 121, Thailand 121, Jamaica 96, South Africa 84, Belgium 62, Holland 57, and 950 elsewhere". All data from the Foreign Office report 6 Oct 2000. Plus their "overseas costs of L50Million to help 45,000 Brits, issue 10,000 emergency passports, make 7,000 prison visits and advise on 300 child abductions". So now it's "sort-of" Official, holidays are un-safe for you, so best ban them.
