 Police investigating a Yardie-style shooting outside a
nightclub today released dramatic footage of the moment
when gunmen opened fire on a queue of revellers.

The CCTV pictures show a crowd of more than 100 disperse
in terror as shots are fired outside Chicago's nightclub
in Peckham, South London.

Three men and five women were injured in the shooting,
at about 1.50 am on July 31. One victim, a 20-year-old
woman, was still in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Duncan Wilson, who heads
Operation Trident, which is investigating Yardie crimes,
appealed for witnesses.

"We suspect that it was probably some sort of gang-related
revenge attack or drug deal that has gone wrong," he said.

The attack was "evil and indiscriminate", he said, adding:
"Those responsible must have realised that innocent
bystanders would be hurt.

"It really is a miracle that no-one was killed. This could
so easily have been a multiple murder investigation."

He refused to say whether police knew any of the attackers'
intended targets, but added: "The majority of the injured
were innocent party-goers."

Forensic tests have shown that at least four different
weapons - including at least two semi-automatic pistols -
were used in the attack.

Witnesses have said three gunmen fired a number of shots
into the crowd outside the nightclub then fled in a small
dark car which was parked in Bellenden Road, off Peckham
High Road.

The men were all black and in their 20s. One wore a blue
and white striped shirt and blue jeans, and another had
a dark top.

The third man was about 5ft 7ins tall and wore a
multi-coloured Hawaiian style shirt.

Police also want to trace a man wearing a white baseball
cap who was spotted holding a gun at the scene.

Anyone with information should contact the incident room
on 020 8284 9943 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
