Regarding the recent posting about information wanted on
a box magazine pump action shotgun, my local free paper
had a picture in it asking for anyone with information on
this gun to come forward. They then showed a photo of a
stainless Beretta 92 and the muzzle of a barrel in one
corner of the picture! Ah well.

On a totally unrelated point, I am certain that some of
the pistols used in crime are actually misidentified from
a legal standpoint and are in fact sawn-off shotguns.

What I'm talking about are the pre-1988 smoothbore pistols
which are in fact legally defined as sawn-off shotguns when
the barrel is cut down to pistol length.

I've seen a MAB D recovered after it was thrown in an alley
by a fleeing criminal that had a smoothbore barrel with the
end crudely cut off.
