      Escaped cow shot

A cow was shot dead by a police marksman at the end
of a two-hour hunt after the animal escaped from a cattle
market and ran along the High Street in Shaftesbury,
Dorset. Armed police units were deployed by helicopter and
the Friesian was shot three times after being cornered in
a field.

Great. 50 years ago, some farmer would have
simply roped it, and returned it to the pen. Now we have
cops who are deathly afraid of a quadruped, and shoot
everything they are afraid of (can't get those clothes dirty,
now, can we?). I wonder how they justified that helo ride?
