Rolex robbers wanted for murder after wife dies from her
injuries in ambush shooting
A MURDER hunt was launched yesterday after a woman who
was shot in the back by Rolex robbers died in hospital.
Wealthy Josephine Martorana, 46, and her husband, Joe,
47, were ambushed by two men in the driveway of their
detached home at Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, as they
returned from shopping in Knightsbridge on August
Bank Holiday.
After a struggle with Mr Martorana, the men shot his
wife and seized the couple's Rolex watches. Their son
Steven, 18, and his girlfriend Isabella Agnes, 19,
were also shot when they ran out of the house to
investigate. As the gunmen drove off in a silver
Vauxhall Vectra, Mr Martorana gave chase in his BMW
and their cars crashed into each other in the centre
of Hoddesdon. The men then escaped.
Last night detectives said the search for the robbers
had now become a murder inquiry after Mrs Martorana,
who had been in hospital since the shooting, died of
her injuries.
Steven, who was shot in the chest, and Ms Agnes, who
was shot in the abdomen, were released from hospital
last week.Police suspect the men may have followed
the couple from London. Mr Martorana has offered a
L25,000 reward for help in catching his wife's killers.
