No, I don't imagine they would, for it would only backfire anyway. My
point is simply this, that unless the certificate is renewed in time the
possession - on the letter of the law - becomes unlawful. Hence, if
there was a need to produce a certificate to a constable and one
couldn't then one faces arrest.

I didn't mean to sound confrontational, more a warning to err on the
side of caution having been once bitten myself ...
