Sat PM.
I have just had an appointment with MP at his 'surgery'.
I went well equipped, with all the stats and balanced
arguments and points of view. I found that he understood
them all and this includes the concerns regarding the
'unanswered Dunblane questions'. He took onboard the
questions as to why Mrs. Gill Marshall-Andrews had made
it back onto the FCC and was interested in my main point
regarding the proposed increase in the age of unsupervised
firearm handling. He explained that the proposals would
be debated and that he was prepared to introduce my views
into the debate, on all these matters.
He was, however, most interested in the fact that my son
of 14 is directly affected by the proposals and suggested
that he should make his opinions known as well which he
would also then introduce.
I tell this to all so that anyone who knows young people
in a similar position can encourage them to submit their
views to their own MP. Today's young person is tomorrows
voter!!!!!! and it's an angle that could work well along
with the submission of the supporting views of
parents/coaches/friends etc.

In the command paper it says:
"The Government notes that many firearms and shotgun
certificates issued to young people are to allow them to
borrow guns, usually their parents, and use them under
supervision. The Government will wish to explore
further and possibly extend the provisions that would
allow young people to use a borrowed gun under adult
supervision if the minimum age is increased to eighteen
as recommended."
