From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Paedophile kills himself in US court A paedophile pulled out a gun in a US courthouse, blasted one of his alleged victims and her husband then killed himself. Edward Lansdale, 68, fired two shots into Amber Pearce's stomach and one at her husband Jeffrey. Both are in a stable condition in hospital. All three were standing in a passageway in the Siskiyou County Courthouse in California. Mrs Pearce had told the court Lansdale sexually assaulted her when she was 14. The jury had retired to consider its verdict and were about to come back with guilty verdicts when Lansdale pulled out the gun. He had been on trial all week, charged with taking two girls into his home when they were teenagers and having sexual intercourse. Lansdale faced nearly 60 years in prison if convicted of all charges. He was free on bail during the trial. Undersheriff Mike Lyon said there are airport-like metal detectors used outside two of the three courtrooms. Officers also use portable metal detectors at the third courtroom. There are no detectors at the courthouse entrance, Mr Lyon said, because officials decided it would be too costly and an, "inconvenience to the general public."
