YOKO USES LENNON BLOOD IN AD (The Sun, 06/12/00)

JOHN LENNON'S widow Yoko Ono has produced a poignant anti-gun advert
featuring a picture of the murdered ex-Beatle's blood-stained glasses.

Yoko, 67, photographed the spectacles he was wearing when shot in New York
20 years ago this Friday by Mark Chapman. The poster says more than 676,000
people have been shot dead since Lennon was killed.

Yoko said: "It is ten times more than the number of U.S. soldiers lost in
the Vietnam war.

"This year is the 20th anniversary of John's murder. It is time to remind
people how he died."

-----

The text of the advert is as follows:

Over 676,000 people have been
killd by guns in the U.S.A since
John Lennon was shot and killed
on December 8, 1980.

Under this text is a picture of Yoko's glasses with blood spattered across
the left lens. Not only is it sick that she is using it in this way, but
what was she thinking when her husband was shot? 'Oh, better whip off my
specs and get a good arty picture of them'?
