Mock-up posters showing a man lying in a pool of blood with a revolver by
his side has gone on display in London as part of a campaign aimed at
stopping gun crime.

The image is being displayed at about 60 sites in Brent, where eight people
have been killed and 12 injured in shootings in the last two years.

The posters spearhead the Government-backed Not Another Drop campaign being
run by the Metropolitan Police and Brent Council.

On the poster, the man is lying under the words "Young, gifted and dead".

June Graham, co-ordinator of community support group Mothers Against Death,
said the aim is to encourage people to come forward with information.

"I hope the image will shock people into realising that the young man lying
in a pool of blood could be your son, brother or friend," she said.

Paul Daisley, deputy leader of Brent Council, said the "evil activities" of
a handful of people had tarnished the reputation of the area.

"The time has come for us all to take a stand against these gangsters and
the menace they have brought to our streets. We will do all we can to work
with the local community and police to force them out."

The Not Another Drop campaign, which is to be launched by Home Office
minister Paul Boateng next month, will also include radio advertisements
featuring the voice of a mother whose son was murdered and a freepost
address so information about gun crimes can be sent anonymously.

Hey, I know what they should do to stop gun crimes! A total ban on all
handguns! Yeah, that's it. That'd work...DOH!
